Vikings land defensive piece for Brian Flores in latest 2025 NFL mock draft

A recent 2025 NFL Mock Draft has the Minnesota Vikings landing a defensive player that would fit great in Brian Flores’ defense.

Although the NFL playoffs are quickly approaching us, that doesn’t mean that it’s too early to look ahead at the 2025 NFL draft. This week, Travis May of AtoZSports released a three-round mock draft.

Due to the trades that helped land Dallas Turner last year, the Minnesota Vikings are only slated for one pick through the first three rounds. But May believes the Vikings could land a valuable defensive piece at the end of the first round.

He has them drafting East Carolina cornerback Shavon Revel Jr. at pick 30. May believes that Revel has the talent to go high in the first round, but the ACL tear he sustained earlier this season will slide him down the board. Here is May’s full write-up of the selection.

Shavon Revel Jr. is a long lean cover cornerback with tons of athletic upside, but the early-mid first projections are probably a bit too optimistic for a Group of Five Conference defender who will miss all of NFL Draft season due to a torn ACL. However, he’s too good a value to let drop out of round one completely as the Vikings hope to bolster their leaky secondary that’s surrendered the fourth most passing yards in the NFL so far this season.

The Vikings will certainly look to get younger at cornerback this offseason. Stephon Gilmore (34) and Shaq Griffin (29) were signed to one-year deals this season. Although they have played well, their age and physical limitations have sometimes held Brian Flores back in terms of how much man coverage he can run.

Revel has the size (6’3″, 193 pounds) and cover ability (PFF gave him coverage grades of 84.7 and 85.2 over the past two seasons) that would fit perfectly in Flores’ scheme. He’s a name to keep an eye on as the draft approaches.
