Vikings have done something they haven’t done in 26 years

In 1998, the Minnesota Vikings would finish the season with a 15-1 record and have one of the more magical seasons in franchise history.

In 1998, the Minnesota Vikings would finish the season with a 15-1 record and have one of the more magical seasons in franchise history. They were led by a struggling quarterback in Randall Cunningham who had a career year and the defense played at an elite level.

Sound familiar?

It should, but the similarities between this 2024 Vikings team and the one in 1998 don’t stop there. When you look at the numbers, there is an even wilder coincidence.

In 1998, the Vikings started the year 4-0 with a point differential of +57 over their opponents. In 2024, the Vikings started the year 4-0 and have a potential differential of +57 over their opponents.

They hope to make it 5-0 on Sunday against the Jets, but a run like the one they had in 1998, when they won 15 games, also sounds good. That Vikings team lost in Week 8 and did not lose again until the NFC Championship game against the Falcons.

Vikings fans have been all in on this team. Let’s hope they don’t hurt them the way the 1998 team eventually did.
