Minnesota may have to start looking forward to the NFL draft soon enough.
The Vikings lost to the Rams at U.S. Bank Stadium on Sunday. Minnesota dropped to 7-8 overall. The Vikings may not be the postseason contender that some thought they were this offseason.
However, the Vikings can always rebuild through the draft process. The team would have the No. 12 overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft based on its current standing in the league.
That’s not terrible. It’s not a stellar pick, either. Minnesota could do with some more losses if the team wants a top quarterback prospect in this year’s class. Although, this is a weak quarterback class, so it remains to be seen what the Vikings do.
Draft Wire’s Luke Easterling did a mock draft recently that had Minnesota taking Cincinnati CB Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner in the first round. The Vikings could use cornerback, given that CB Patrick Peterson is a free agent again next season.
