The 2020 season is over for the Minnesota Vikings.
As some fan bases are enjoying the playoffs, those who follow the Vikings are looking ahead to the 2021 NFL Draft where the Vikings pick 14th overall.
Anthony Treash over at Pro Football Focus put together a mock draft already and has the Vikings drafting Michigan defensive end Kwity Paye with the 14th pick.
Here’s what Treash wrote about the pick:
No team produced a lower pass-rush grade or pressure rate in the 2020 NFL season than Minnesota. Vikings fans, let me introduce you to Kwity Paye — A.K.A. the top edge rusher in the class. Paye only played in four games this past season but was still able to rack up 22 pressures and an 87.1 pass-rush grade. He is an athletic freak and showed signs of improvement from a technical standpoint in 2020.
The Vikings struggled with pass rush in 2020, and a big part of that was the fact that Danielle Hunter missed the entire season.
At this point in the mock draft process, I pay more attention to the position the Vikings take, rather than the specific player.
You might be asking yourself if the Vikings could draft a quarterback with this pick.
Treash has five quarterbacks going in the top-10. The Vikings would have to move up in this scenario, which seems unlikely considering Kirk Cousins is still around.
