Vikings, Dalvin Tomlinson agree to move date contract voids

The Vikings have time to re-sign Tomlinson and lessen the cap hit

On Monday, the Minnesota Vikings were set to have two contracts expire in cornerback Patrick Peterson and defensive end Dalvin Tomlinson. In doing so, that would have added $8.25 million in dead cap.

Luckily for Vikings fans, that has slightly changed. According to ESPN’s Field Yates, the Vikings and Tomlinson have agreed to adjust the date the contract voids to March 15th, also known as the first day of the 2023 league year.

After his performance this season when healthy, it made a lot of sense to bring back Tomlinson, which is why it was weird initially why they let the contract void. With the voided contract now back in place for the next three weeks, the Vikings have time to talk to him about and extension.

Depending on the terms on the extension, the Vikings could save money against the salary cap with $5 million moving back into 2024 and 2025.
