When the Vikings traded DE Yannick Ngakoue, the team was 1-5 at the time and in its bye week.
It seemed like more moves could be on the way, due to the Vikings’ poor performance and the fact that they had already shipped off a starter for draft compensation.
But the moves ended up stopping there. Minnesota coach Mike Zimmer talked with reporters about what was a quiet trade deadline for the Vikings.
“We like our guys,” Zimmer told reporters, via the Vikings Twitter account. “We’ve got a bunch of good guys on this team and we just need to continue to get better and play better.”
Now, the Vikings are 2-5 after a victory against a playoff-contending Packers team. Minnesota needs a lot more games like that to turn its season around. The Vikings could get another divisional win on Sunday when the team plays the Lions in Week 9.
