Earlier this offseason, Vikings cornerback Jeff Gladney turned himself in and posted a $10,000 bond after facing a charge of third degree felony family violence assault, according to J.D. Miles of CBS 11 News.
Now, a grand jury date is set for that case. As first reported by Brian Murphy of Purple Insider, prosecutors will present the case against Gladney on July 22.
Gladney has been absent from all the Vikings’ offseason programs amid the ongoing case. If Gladney is convicted, he faces 2-10 years in prison.
The 22-year-old victim said she was in a relationship with Gladney. Detectives reported bruising on the head, ears and torso of the victim. Gladney is accused of hitting and choking her. He is also accused of dragging her by the hair with her outside his vehicle, while driving.
Minnesota took Gladney, 24, in the first round of the 2020 NFL draft. There has yet to be any official punishment given by the league as of now.
