Vikings CB Akayleb Evans reveals childhood favorite now a teammate

Evans reveals one of his childhood favorites is also a Viking.

The first day on the practice field must have been a pinch-me moment for Minnesota Vikings rookie cornerback Akayleb Evans.

Not only is he living out a dream of playing in the NFL, but he’s doing it alongside one of his favorite players growing up. The former defensive back out of the University of Missouri ended up in a near perfect situation when taken with the No. 118 overall pick of the 2022 NFL draft.

In a social media post, Evans revealed his favorite defensive back to watch when growing up was none other than legendary cornerback Patrick Peterson.

“Pat P was my favorite DB growing up so it’s gotta be him,” said Evans, when responding to a social media post asking who’s the first player that comes to mind when seeing an Arizona Cardinals logo.

So Evans gets to start his NFL career learning from a historically great player, who just so happens to be one of his childhood heroes.

It doesn’t get much better than that.

This was the hope for the Vikings when re-signing the veteran defensive back for another year. Peterson can help them bridge the gap for what will eventually be a passing of the torch at the cornerback position.
