Vikings among teams that didn’t win division in 2019, but are favorites to do so in 2020

The Bills, Cowboys, Colts and Vikings are all teams that, despite not winning their respective divisions in 2019, are favorites to win in 2020, per ESPN’s Power Index.

The Vikings were a team that didn’t win their division in 2019, but still made their presence felt in the playoffs.

Minnesota defeated New Orleans in the first round, before getting knocked out by San Francisco, which ended up making the Super Bowl.

According to ESPN’s Power Index, the Vikings are one of four teams that did not win their division in 2019, but are listed as the favorite to win it in 2020. The other teams that fit that characterization on the ESPN Power Index are the Bills, Cowboys and Colts.

ESPN also gave Minnesota a 54% chance of making the playoffs with a projected win total of 8.6.

The Bills and Cowboys added explosive wideouts in the offseason. Dallas drafted CeeDee Lamb, and of course Buffalo traded for former Minnesota receiver Stefon Diggs.

The Colts signed former Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers, who will now be dropping back with one of the best offensive lines in the NFL.

The Vikings didn’t go with numerous free agency splashes, but rather added talent in the draft and extended quarterback Kirk Cousins. Does that mean Minnesota can beat out the Packers, Bears and Lions for the NFC North title? It’s going to be fun to watch.
