The Vikings have added former Packers defensive coordinator Dom Capers to the coaching staff, the team announced on Monday.
Capers will be a senior defensive assistant.
This continues the shuffling the Vikings have done with their coaching staff this offseason. Defensively, coordinator George Edwards is out while Adam Zimmer and Andre Patterson will take over as co-defensive coordiantors.
Capers, 69, was a defensive coordinator with the Packers from 2009-2017. Prior to that, he was head coach of the Texans and Panthers.
Zimmer will still be calling plays, but it’s another veteran football mind to add to the coaching staff. It certainly doesn’t hurt.
