The Cleveland Browns defeated the New York Giants 17 – 13 in preseason action. In a game where very few starters or key players played much for either team, highlights were scarce. Unfortunately for the Browns, injuries continued to pile up.
With a touchdown pass to KhaDarel Hodge and John Kelly bouncing a run outside for a score, the offense had a couple of big plays. The defense was credited with two sacks but struggled to get pressure on Giants quarterbacks throughout.
For the second straight preseason game, rookie safety Richard LeCounte III made a big play. Last week, against the Jacksonville Jaguars, LeCounte was the team’s highest-graded defender according to Pro Football Focus. This week, against the Giants backups, LeCounte ended the game with this interception of a Hail Mary:

With Grant Delpit and Sheldrick Redwine sidelined by injuries at different times throughout training camp, LeCounte has been given a chance to shine. He has taken his chances and done well with them.
