Video: Cub Swanson doesn’t speak, has stand-in for bizarre UFC Fight Night 212 media day session

Cub Swanson didn’t say a word at UFC Fight Night 212 media day.

LAS VEGAS – [autotag]Cub Swanson[/autotag]’s media day appearance ahead of UFC Fight Night 212 was an odd one.

Swanson (28-12 MMA, 13-8 UFC), a longtime featherweight contender who will make his bantamweight debut on Saturday against Jonathan Martinez (16-4 MMA, 7-3 UFC), usually offers thoughtful and insightful answers during his media day duties with reporters.

Ahead of the upcoming fight, which takes place at the UFC Apex and streams on ESPN+, though, Swanson took things in a different direction. In fact, he didn’t speak at all.

Swanson had his teammate Dan Argueta answer all questions on his behalf and did not say a single word during the brief interaction with reporters.

“Cub’s trying to relax his voice a little bit he’s had a lot of phone calls and interviews to do,” Argueta told MMA Junkie and other reporters. “So I decided to fill in. He wanted to test me and he wanted to see if I answer everything correctly for him.”
