The number is remarkable.

Cecilia Braekhus will be making the 26th defense of her welterweight title when she faces Jessica McCaskill on Saturday in Tulsa, Oklahoma. If she wins, she will have broken the all-time record for consecutive defenses established by Hall of Famer Joe Louis.

And there’s a good chance she’ll succeed. The Colombian-Norwegian is 38 but has shown no signs of slowing down as the queen of women’s boxing.

McCaskill (8-2, 3 KOs) is no pushover. The Chicago fighter has defeated three capable opponents since she lost a decision to lightweight titleholder Katie Taylor in 2017.

In this episode of DAZN Presents, Chris Mannix interviews Braekhus (36-0, 9 KOs) about her opportunity to make history, her career in general, the fight in front of her and more.

Here’s what she had to say.
