MORRISTOWN, N.J. – The high-stakes UFC 288 co-main event is set after [autotag]Belal Muhammad[/autotag] and [autotag]Gilbert Burns[/autotag] made weight at Friday’s official weigh-ins.
Muhammad (22-3 MMA, 13-3 UFC) and Burns (22-5 MMA, 15-5 UFC) agreed to meet in a five-round fight on just 16 days’ notice, but that didn’t prove to be an issue at weigh-ins when both men hit their marks for the welterweight bout, which takes place Saturday at Prudential Center and airs on pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN and ESPN+.
Unbeaten in his past nine fights, Muhammad tipped the scale at 170 pounds on the nose during the weigh-in session at the UFC host hotel in New Jersey. Burns, who will be competing for the third time already in 2023, registered at 171 pounds.
