Victor Wembanyama talks decision to compete in NBA Skills Challenge

San Antonio Spurs big man Victor Wembanyama recently spoke about his decision to partake in the NBA Skills Challenge at All-Star weekend.

The San Antonio Spurs haven’t been winning many games this season, but they still have lots to look forward to on game day, thanks to Victor Wembanyama. When the Spurs took him with the first pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, they took the future of their franchise, and he clearly has the talent to be that.

With his length, size, and skills, he’s a walking human highlight reel whenever he steps on the court, and the NBA recognizes that. He was recently selected to take part in the Skills Challenge at All-Star weekend, capitalizing on his unique skillset, and he’s very excited.

“It’s for sure something I want to do in my life,” Wembanyama said. “I’m glad it’s happening already.”

The 7-foot-4 giant can handle the ball, shoot from range, and do everything in between. He’s ready to show off his skills at All-Star weekend.

“I’ll practice every night in the games,” said Wembanyama.

While the Spurs have been having a rough season, Wembanyama is putting up solid stats. If they were a bit higher in the standings, he could have a serious shot at making the All-Star game in his first year in the league.

He’s averaging 19.6 points, 10.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.1 steals, and a league-high 3.2 blocks while shooting 45.9% from the field and 29.2% from behind the three-point line.

Wembanyama may not make the All-Star team, but he’ll have a chance to show off his skills during the same weekend.
