Victor Wembanyama striving to have same mindset of Kobe Bryant

Victor Wembanyama spoke about trying to have the same mindset as Kobe Bryant after the San Antonio Spurs win over the Oklahoma CIty Thunder.

Though the San Antonio Spurs haven’t been winning a ton of games this season, they picked up a big-time victory on Thursday night. They took down the Oklahoma City Thunder in a 132-118 win. It took a team effort from the Spurs, as they got great contributions from a few different players.

Jeremy Sochan had a 21-point, 10-rebound double-double, and Devin Vassell put up 28 points to go along with his nine assists. But as has been the case for the majority of the season, it was rookie big man Victor Wembanyama who led the way for the Spurs. He had a phenomenal game.

After the contest, Wembanyama spoke about how he strives to have the same mindset as Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant.

“It’s a lot of mental,” Wembanyama said “You know Kobe [Bryant] said to win a game, it mostly takes shots, big shots, because they don’t call like any fouls. It’s not as much the physical battle. Even though in defense it’s 90 percent effort, but offensively it’s a lot of mental.”

Wembanyama finished the game with 28 points, 13 rebounds, seven assists, two steals, and five rebounds. He shot 9-of-17 from the floor and 5-of-7 from beyond the three-point arc.
