The Victor Wembanyama experience is a special one. It’s not often that you run into a 7-foot-5 big man who can handle the ball, shoot threes, and Euro step his way into the paint from the three-point line. But that’s exactly what the San Antonio Spurs got when they drafted the 19-year-old with the first overall pick.
At Summer League, Wembanyama looked good, but throughout the preseason so far, fans have been treated to the show that they thought they would be getting when people were hyping up the Frenchman. Some of the moves he’s pulled out on the court have been incredible.
During the Spurs’ recent preseason game against the Miami Heat, Wembanyama threw down a dunk over big man Thomas Bryant that left the Heat center perplexed. A viral video caught Bryant looking over the sidelines in awe, unable to process what just happened.

Wembanyama also managed to throw down a crazy lob, and Spurs point guard Tre Jones spoke about it after the game.
“You see how coordinated he is with how long he is and how tall he is,” Jones said via Andrew Lopez of ESPN. “You don’t see that very often. You throw it up, he’s able to go get it a lot of times.”
Even head coach Gregg Popovich was impressed with Wembanyama’s performance.
“He’s obviously a gifted player who was very humbly trying to find his place,” Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. “I called one play for him all night and I think he got over 20. He just did that because he’s a good basketball player and he understands how to play, so we have to make sure that we blend that with everything else that we have.”
Not only should Wembanyama be a staple on SportsCenter’s Top 10 plays moving forward, but he should elevate the Spurs into the playoffs sooner rather than later.
