BALTIMORE — Former University of Tennessee baseball player Zack Godley had another rough outing for the Boston Red Sox on Sunday.
Godley surrendered three runs (all earned) in Boston’s 5-4 loss to the Baltimore Orioles.
With the defeat, he dropped to 0-3 this season. It was Godley’s sixth appearance and fifth start of the season for the Red Sox, who are in last place in the American League East with a 9-20 record.
Godley, who was acquired by Boston after being released by the Detroit Tigers in spring training, has had a roller coaster ride of a season and has yet to go more than four innings in a game in 2020. His appearances have alternated between good and bad for Boston this season as he has a 7.29 earned run average.
The former Vol gave up three runs to the Orioles (14-14) in the bottom of the third inning. He also surrendered two hits and five walks, while recording two strikeouts in 2.2 innings.
