PHILADELPHIA — Former University of Tennessee basketball standout Josh Richardson has a new home in the NBA.
Richardson, who played for the Philadelphia 76ers last season, did not fit into new head coach Doc Rivers’ plans.
The 76ers sent Richardson and the and 36th pick in Wednesday night’s 2020 NBA draft to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for Seth Curry.
Curry is the brother of Golden State star Stephen Curry.
Richardson, a native of Edmond, Oklahoma, broke in to the NBA with the Miami Heat after being a second-round draft selection in the 2015 NBA draft.
He was an All-Southeastern Conference standout in 2015 and a two-time member of the league’s All-Defensive Team in 2014 and 2015.
Philadelphia also traded former Florida player Al Horford Tuesday night, sending him and a pair of draft picks to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
