VFL Josh Richardson, Sixers ousted from playoffs

Josh Richardson’s performance in Sunday’s playoff game against the Celtics in Orlando

ORLANDO — The 2019-20 season came to an end for Josh Richardson and the Philadelphia 76ers Sunday afternoon as they concluded their short stay in the NBA playoffs.

The Boston Celtics, the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference, eliminated the sixth-seeded 76ers with a 110-106 victory in the HP Field House in the Central Florida bubble.

The victory helped Boston complete a four-game sweep of Philadelphia, but former University of Tennessee basketball player Josh Richardson posted a solid performance as he scored 14 points, dished out five assists and pulled down three rebounds in the 76ers’ season-ending loss.

Richardson, a shooting guard for the Sixers, started and played 36 minutes Sunday against the Celtics.

He shot just 2-for-10 from the floor, but scored in double figures in each of the 76ers’ four playoff games this summer.
