VFL Jason Croom signed to Eagles’ active roster

Former Tennessee football player Jason Croom now on Eagles’ active roster.

The Philadelphia Eagles have signed former University of Tennessee football player Jason Croom from their practice squad.

Croom, a tight end, was placed on Philadelphia’s active roster Friday afternoon. The Eagles are looking for depth on its 2020 season finale against the Washington Football Team Sunday.

Croom’s addition to the roster assures that he will be on the team’s roster during the offseason.

He has played in four games this season, while being on the receiving end of a touchdown pass.

The Eagles (4-10-1) are the only team in the NFC East that has been eliminated from postseason contention despite the fact that all of the division’s other teams will finish the 2020 campaign with below .500 records.

Washington, Dallas and the New York Giants are all vying for one of the NFC’s final playoff spots.

Croom, a Norcross, Georgia native, began the season on the Buffalo Bills’ practice squad. He played with the Bills between 2017-20.

He has 23 career receptions for 262 yards and two touchdowns after entering the league as an undrafted free agent.

Croom played for the Volunteers between 2013-16. He began his collegiate career on Rocky Top as a wide receiver before moving to tight end as a senior.

At UT, Croom recorded 60 receptions including six touchdowns.
