VFL Garrett Stallings traded to Orioles

Former Tennessee pitcher Garrett Stallings traded to Baltimore from the Los Angeles Angels.

A former University of Tennessee baseball player is on the move.

Garrett Stallings, a pitcher for the Volunteers from 2017-19, has been traded from the Los Angeles Angels to Baltimore.

He and Jean Pinto were swapped for veteran shortstop Jose Iglesias.

Stallings had a career record of 16-14 in three seasons for the Volunteers.

The former Vol was selected by the Angels in the fifth round of the 2019 Major League Baseball draft. He was the 119th overall pick.

In 2019, he was the Southeastern Conference Scholar Athlete of the Year and was also named to the league’s All-Defensive Team. Stallings was also a member of the 2019 SEC Community Service Team.

With the Diamond Vols, Stallings hurled four complete games, recorded two shutouts and had a pair of saves.

He had 182 career strikeouts and made 52 appearances including 35 starts.

Stallings is a native of Chesapeake, Virginia.
