CHICAGO — Former University of Tennessee baseball player Garrett Crochet has been promoted to the Chicago White Sox Major League roster.
Crochet, a left-handed pitcher, was called up by Chicago on Friday. He appeared in Friday’s game against the Reds, striking out two batters in one inning of action.
The No.11 overall selection by the White Sox in the 2020 MLB draft, is the first player drafted this summer to make a Major League Baseball roster.

He was named a preseason All-American by both Perfect Game and Baseball America.
Crochet, who was key to the Diamond Vols’ postseason run in 2019, made just one appearance for the Big Orange in 2020 as the season came to a premature end due to the coronavirus pandemic.
