Veteran Danny Green proud of the progression, growth from Sixers

Philadelphia 76ers guard Danny Green is happy with the team’s progression.

The Philadelphia 76ers are working on trying to work out the kinks that they have run into being such a new team and playing under the extreme circumstances that the pandemic has offered. It has been a season full of adjustments for everybody involved and it has made life tough.

Danny Green is one of the elder statesmen on the team and even he is making a lot of adjustments being on a new team for the third straight season while also dealing with the challenges of the pandemic.

“I’m proud of the position we’re in,” said Green on Thursday. “I honestly think even with some of the ups and downs and some of the downs, I guess, we felt we let some slippage happen, we know we could be better, we want to be better, but we’re still in a good position.”

He and the team went through the league’s health and safety protocols in January as they were having to play with only a few members of their roster. Yet, they have remained as the 1 seed in the East and they are serious contenders to win a title when the playoffs roll around in May.

“We fought, even with COVID issues, even with schedule issues, even with traveling issues, all types of injuries, guys come to play every day,” Green added. “We’re proud of that and we’ve made adjustments. We’ve come together as a group, but we can grow many areas.”

The Sixers are a team that, as mentioned, is still trying to work out a lot of different things. They still have stretches where it is obvious that they are far from a finished product, but they understand how talented they are. At this point, it’s all about putting it together and getting the job done every night.

“For us, the sky’s the limit,” green finished. “We have a lot of potential, we know we have the pieces, we know we have what it takes to get it done. It’s more so us handling our own business, maturing mentally, as a group, and getting over that hump of playing the same way every night for 48 minutes. That’s always a challenge for every group, but for us, we know we have the talent to do it, we have the depth, we have the pieces. We just got to do it every night.”

The Sixers will play host to the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday at home.
