Vasiliy Lomachenko plans to get back into the ring this fall

Vasiliy Lomachenko told multiple outlets that he plans to get back into the ring this fall.

Vasiliy Lomachenko reportedly will make his return to the ring this fall.

The 34-year-old former three-division titleholder, who put his career on hold to help defend his native Ukraine against a Russian invasion, told promoter Top Rank he wants to get back to fighting, according to multiple outlets. Lomachenko (16-2, 11 KOs) could fight again as soon as October.

He was expected to challenge then-undisputed 135-pound champion George Kambosos Jr. last month but pulled out in May because of the war in his country. Devin Haney filled in for him and outpointed the Aussie.

Lomachenko has won two consecutive fights since losing his lightweight titles to Teofimo Lopez in October 2020, stopping Masayoshi Nakatani in nine rounds in June of last year and easily outpointing Richard Commey in December.
