Diamond Heels outfielder Vance Honeycutt was named the Co-ACC Player of the Week for his efforts this past week.

The UNC baseball program appears to be getting hot at the right time as they are battling for their NCAA Tournament lives with a few weeks to go in the season. And a big part of their recent success is from outfielder [autotag]Vance Honeycutt. [/autotag]

The freshman was named co-ACC Player of the Week splitting with Wake Forest designated hitter Jake Reinisch, the conference announced on Monday following the two teams’ series.  In the five games for Honeycutt, he hit .474 (9-for-19) including hitting three home runs in that span.

He had six runs scored and seven RBI’s in that stretch, helping the Tar Heels go 4-1 in the process.

Honeycutt has been fantastic all season long for the Tar Heels and as it stands now is the only player in the country with at least 15 homers and 20 stolen bases. Going into the final series he has 15 home runs and 27 stolen bases.
