Happy New Year to you! Even with 2020 upon us, a few things of note that happened as 2019 came to a close.
A former Vols soccer player is playing professionally in France. Maya Neal signed on with Le Havre AC. An interesting note from the UT Sports website is that she is the fourth former UT player to sign professionally in the last eight months. Neal was honored three times as a first-team All-SEC selection from 2017-2019. Adding to her soccer exploits, Neal was a member of the Track and Field team as well.
Junior golfer Hunter Wolcott was named the 2019 Tennessee Amateur Golfer of the Year. With Wolcott receiving this award, he becomes the third UT golfer to win the award, and the first since Gibby Gilbert in 1988. Ricky Gregg is also a former recipient, but perhaps the most notable is Wolcott’s father, Bob, a three-time winner.
There’s lots to look forward to in 2020. That includes the Taxslayer Gator Bowl tonight and conference opening for the Lady Vols basketball team. Here’s to a fruitful year for UT!
The SEC season has arrived‼️ @LadyVol_Hoops begins conference action tomorrow night, hosting Missouri at 5pm ET.
