UT has two top-10 marks in FSU XC Winter Classic

Recapping the FSU Winter XC Classic Friday morning.

The University of Tennessee cross country teams returned to action Friday morning after recently completing a successful fall season.

The Volunteers and Lady Vols competed at the FSU XC Winter Classic in Tallahassee, Florida.

For the Vols, junior Karl Thiessen posted a top-10 finish as he placed ninth with a time of 23 minutes, 47.1 seconds in the Men’s Garnet 8K.

Tennessee finished 11th as a team and other top individuals for the Vols included Georde Goodwyn, who finished 47th; Alex Crigger (56th); Mike Griffin (88th) and Max Barbour (94th).

In the women’s 6K, the Lady Vols placed 10th in the team standings.

Sydney Seymour was UT’s top individual finisher, placing ninth (20:33.4). Katie Thronson took 25th (20:53.1). Olivia Janke came in 49th (21:26.1). Abigail Smith finished 92nd and Callie Tucker placed 98th.
