Farragut High School will have the chance to defend its 2019 Class AAA state baseball championship.
The Admirals earned that opportunity with a 9-2 victory over Seymour in a Section 1-AAA game at John Heatherly Field at the Ballpark in Farragut.
A future University of Tennessee baseball player had a big game for the Admirals (36-5), who will open play Tuesday in the state tournament in Murfreesboro.
Farragut freshman center fielder Brennon Seigler, a University of Tennessee commitment, went 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and one RBI against the Eagles, who finish the 2021 campaign with a 32-4 record.
Farragut senior shortstop and UT signee Angus Pence went 0-for-4, but reached on an error in the bottom of the first inning.
For Seymour, Elijah Galyon walked three times. He also threw 1.1 innings of relief for the Eagles, surrendering two runs, two hits, four walks and striking out two.
Galyon is the son of former Volunteers’ and NFL linebacker Scott Galyon.
The younger Galyon is an East Tennessee State University signee. He signed with the Buccaneers after originally committing to Kentucky as a high school freshman.
