USWNT to cap off two-game European trip with Spain friendly

The U.S. will face two of the world’s top sides in back-to-back matches next month

The U.S. women’s national team has announced it will face Spain in a friendly in Pamplona on October 11 (2:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2).

The match will cap off a two-game European trip after the USWNT faces England at Wembley Stadium on October 7.

“Away matches against England and Spain are among the most difficult and high-profile friendlies a team can play and having those experiences will be valuable in many different ways for our continuing preparations for the World Cup,” USWNT head coach Vlatko Andonovski said in a release.

The USWNT and Spain have faced off three times, all of which took place in 2019 and 2020. The U.S. beat Spain twice in 2019: a 1-0 friendly win in January followed by a 2-1 win in a last-16 match at the 2019 World Cup.

Most recently, the USWNT beat Spain 1-0 at the 2020 SheBelieves Cup.
