USC’s Miller Moss named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week

Miller Boss. That is all.

USC’s Miller Moss becomes the first official Big Ten honoree for a Trojan football player.  Moss earned Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honors by following up on his spectacular showing in the 2023 Holiday Bowl.

The redshirt quarterback guided USC on a last minute touchdown drive to defeat No. 13 LSU in Las Vegas last Sunday.  The Trojans were tied with 1:47 left in the game when Moss engineered a win against the then-ranked No. 13 Tigers.

According to the USC Athletic Department, “Moss ranks No. 9 in the nation in passing yards per game (378), No. 9 in completions per game (27) and No. 11 in total offense (370), which also leads the Big Ten Conference.”

Many critics pointed out that Moss’s bowl performance was only one game.  While this is true, he has made multiple throws in both games that are encouraging for Trojan fans.  The offensive line played well, but there were breakdowns in pass protection in both games.  Moss has shown that he is able to get the ball out quickly to mitigate blocking mistakes and blitzes.  He has also stood in the pocket, taking some hits to deliver the ball into tight windows, the kind of elite throws that most college quarterbacks often struggle to complete.

It is likely that Moss will continue to play at a high level, but for now, USC fans are simply thrilled at what they saw versus LSU.
