USC women’s team firmly in the NCAA Tournament in latest bracketology

Great news: #USC did not fall nearly as far on the seed list as we feared. Bottom line: One more win should seal a bid for the Trojans.

The USC Trojans men’s team sits right on the bubble for the NCAA Tournament with a couple of weeks left until Selection Sunday. However, the women’s team doesn’t have to worry. In the latest ESPN bracketology by Charlie Creme, the Trojans sit as an 8-seed and would face Miami (Florida) in the Round of 64.

The Trojans would then play South Carolina in the next round if they win, so that would be a difficult group for the Trojans to be put in.

No matter. What counts is that USC gets into the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2014. That alone would make the season a complete success. Winning one game in the NCAA Tournament would be a fantastic result this season.

Notable is the No. 8 seed for USC. The Trojans were not severely punished for losing to Cal, the 10th-place team in the Pac-12, on Sunday. This would suggest that USC just needs one win to become an NCAA Tournament lock. We have been telling you that two wins would make USC a complete lock, and that one win would make USC extremely likely to get in. You can upgrade your forecasts and breathe much more easily if you are a USC fan. If the Trojans are an 8 seed today, one win does make them a lock, because they wouldn’t have enough chances to play their way out of the field. Even if they go 0-3, it would be hard to fully fall out of the field. So, we’ll revise our forecast: One win locks it all up for the Women of Troy. If they beat Washington on Thursday, it’s lock city.
