USC offers 2024 three-star cornerback commit from Chicago

USC is battling two new Big Ten coaches — Luke Fickell at Wisconsin and Matt Rhule at Nebraska — for a Chicago prospect. This would be a great recruitment to win.

Three-star cornerback Austin Alexander is picking up steam in the recruiting cycle. He has collected several offers this week, including one from the USC Trojans.

The 6’1, 165-pound cornerback from Marion Catholic High School in Chicago Heights visited Wisconsin this past weekend, and now currently has six offers: Wisconsin, Illinois, USC, Nebraska, Miami (OH), and Northern Illinois.

Austin Alexander had 472 all-purpose yards and three offensive touchdowns at wide receiver. At cornerback, his primary position, he led the team with seven interceptions and a defensive touchdown while adding 49 tackles in only six games after battling a leg injury.

The fact that Wisconsin and Nebraska are both involved in this recruitment makes it that much more interesting and important for USC. If Lincoln Riley and Donte Williams can outfox Luke Fickell of Wisconsin and Matt Rhule of Nebraska for a defensive player who has grown up within the Big Ten’s geographical footprint, it would be an early sign that USC can go into the heart of Big Ten country and win important recruiting battles, particularly on the defensive side of the ball. It’s exactly what this program needs to be able to establish in the Midwest.
