The Notre Dame Fighting Irish landed four star Southern California native Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa on Sunday. The 6-foot, 230-pounder chose the Notre Dame Fighting Irish over Ohio State and USC after taking official visits to all three programs in June.
On the field, Viliamu-Asa had similar pitches from his final three programs, but the ability to show him how they would move him around was vital.
“Notre Dame’s type of defense is really catered to the players strengths,” Viliamu-Asa stated. “They showed me how they’d use me to put me in positions to succeed based on my strengths. This last week I’ve really been praying, and I felt like God led me to choose Notre Dame,” Viliamu-Asa said after announcing his commitment on 247Sports.
The 102nd-ranked prospect in 247Sports’ composite rankings and No. 3 inside linebacker in the 2024 class was a big loss for USC. It shows that the Trojans’ recruitng staff has a lot to improve on in the upcoming year and beyond.
The culture and product at USC are almost back, but won’t quite be fully back until the program starts nailing top recruits on a more regular basis, especially local guys like KVA, who is from Bellflower (Calif.).
We’ll see if the Trojans can improve their 2024 class rankings. They currently sit at No. 7 overall and third in the Big Ten behind Ohio State and Michigan.
