USC men’s and women’s basketball programs make history in preseason top 25 polls

This is the first time ever that #USC MBB and WBB have both been ranked in the preseason Associated Press Top 25.

Last season marked the first time since 1997 that both the USC Trojans men’s and women’s basketball teams made the NCAA Tournament in the same season.

Unfortunately, they both lost in the first round, but getting to the Big Dance is always a massive accomplishment regardless of the outcome.

With the preseason polls being released, the Trojans made history in a new way. This is the first time ever that both the men’s and women’s hoop teams have both landed in the Associated Press preseason top 25. Both teams also made the top 25 in the preseason edition of the USA TODAY Sports basketball coaches poll.

The men’s team dropped in at No. 21 of the AP poll, and it might’ve been higher if it weren’t for the unfortunate situation regarding Bronny James’ health.

The women’s team, led by head coach Lindsay Gottlieb, is No. 21 in the AP poll, one spot behind Pac-12 rival Colorado.

As the social media post below says, Galen Center will absolutely be the place to be for USC fans. The men’s and women’s basketball programs are ready to put on a show over the next several months.

Oklahoma fans were right about Lincoln Riley, at least for this specific season.

USC assistants need to be coaching for their jobs against Utah and into November.

Lincoln Riley did not assemble an elite 2023 roster, which surprised us and a lot of other observers.

Is USC ready to win in 2024 with Miller Moss or Malachi Nelson at quarterback? Lincoln Riley has to be honest about how he answers that question.

Brent Venables is coaching Oklahoma far better this year than Lincoln Riley is coaching USC. It’s up to Riley to change that reality against Utah.
