USC is clearly looking everywhere for defensive help

USC really is looking in various places and isn’t limiting its scope of exploration.

Continuing the USC football program’s effort to add depth to the secondary, the program sent an offer to a transfer defensive back out of Bucknell.

The Trojans offered Ethan Robinson, (six feet tall, 185 pounds) on Monday, the first official day players can enter the transfer portal. Robinson has one remaining season of eligibility.

In 31 career games with Bucknell, Robinson has 154 total tackles, 6.5 tackles for a loss, one sack, five interceptions and two forced fumbles. He was named member of the first-team All-Patriot League.

Robinson also reports offers from Kansas, Kansas State, Syracuse, UConn, North Carolina State, Auburn, Cincinnati, Illinois, West Virginia and Minnesota.

It is clear that USC is not just looking at the FBS or the Power Five conferences for help. The Trojans are going to the FCS, to the Ivy League, to various sources in pursuit of reinforcements and overall depth heading into 2024. USC needs to bring in quality, but the Trojans also need to not ignore potential outlets for help. They’re looking everywhere, not just in certain places. Given their limits on defense, that seems like the right approach.
