USC injury concerns emerge at left tackle: Bobby Haskins leaves game vs Fresno State

Haskins briefly left after experiencing shoulder pain in the first half. He then suffered a more severe injury in the 4th quarter. This is a growing problem for #USC.

USC’s situation at left tackle is far from ideal heading into Week 4 at Oregon State.

The Trojans entered Saturday’s game against Fresno State with left tackle Courtland Ford unavailable. Bobby Haskins, who had split snaps fairly evenly with Ford to this point in the season, got the start and a large number of snaps against Fresno State.

Haskins experienced obvious shoulder pain in the first half. He was wincing while standing up, getting some attention from trainers on the field. He left for a period of time and was replaced by backup Mason Murphy, who did not perform very well in limited action. Haskins was back on the field early in the second half, and he played into the fourth quarter. However, he then suffered a more severe injury — not hugely severe, but definitely worse than the initial injury in the first half. Haskins went to the ground with this (fourth-quarter) injury. He got up under his own power.

Haskins went to the injury tent, but he still had his helmet on before going to the injury tent. It’s not a shattering injury, but Haskins will be less than 100 percent heading to Corvallis next week. The left tackle situation is the number one concern for the Trojans as they prepare for a massive game versus Oregon State.
