USC football has an active top-10 streak of consecutive seasons as a ranked team
USC needs to build this streak in a meaningful way in 2024.
Being a top-25 team is not USC’s ultimate standard or goal, but consecutive seasons in the top 25 is reflective of a certain degree of quality and staying power. USC has had some bad seasons over the past 22 years, including and especially the 2018 disaster. Yet, at some point in that 2018 season, the Trojans were ranked.
Per 247Sports, USC has a streak of 22 consecutive seasons in which the Trojans were ranked at some point in the Associated Press Top 25 during that season. The streak is tied for the seventh-longest in the FBS.

“Is this streak in jeopardy for the Trojans in the expanded Big Ten? Perhaps. USC faces one of the nation’s toughest schedules and is entering a new era of sorts without former Heisman winner Caleb Williams at leading the offense at quarterback. Lincoln Riley’s program is going to face a litany of ranked competition week to week in its new league, but made staff changes on defense in hopes of correcting problems that have plagued this team that last couple of years. Getting back to the Pete Carroll-like dynasty in Los Angeles is going to take a lot, however.”
