USC didn’t win a linebacker recruitment, but it didn’t lose it, either

USC did not add a player, but neither did Oregon.

When a conference rival fails to get a recruit, the outcome can be spun as a victory, or if not a victory, a benefit. USC did not add linebacker Noah Mikhail to its roster on Sunday, but while the Trojans didn’t score a true win on the trail, they didn’t exactly lose. Mikhail might not have picked USC, but he also didn’t pick Oregon. That might not be a “win” for USC, but it feels like a positive development. Maybe we can call this particular recruitment a tie, then?

Ducks Wire has more on this story:

They (the Ducks) had a chance to add to that haul on Sunday afternoon, but it unfortunately didn’t come to fruition. 4-star linebacker Noah Mikhail announced his college commitment on Sunday, choosing to go to the Texas A&M Aggies over Oregon and USC Trojans.

Mikhail is rated as the No. 69 overall player in the 2025 class, and the No. 8 LB. While he didn’t choose the Ducks at present, don’t be surprised to see Lanning and staff keep on him and try to flip him before the signing period this winter.

USC winning is the ideal outcome, but Oregon losing to a non-Big Ten school is an acceptable outcome. Call it a draw.
