On Saturday, August 26 — hours before USC starts its 2023 football season — there will be a big high school football game on national television. St. John Bosco (Calif.) at St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla.) will air at 4 p.m. on ESPN2 from Brian Piccolo Stadium in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
USC commit Marcelles Williams, a cornerback who is on the Bosco roster, will be featured.
This clash is a rematch of a 2017 game in which Aquinas beat Bosco 9-3.
Saint John Bosco finished last season as the national champion under head coach Jason Negro. The Braves return four prominent recruits from that squad: Marcelles Williams (a USC commit), No. 107 Peyton Woodyard at safety (Georgia commit), No. 157 Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa at outside linebacker (a Notre Dame commit), and No. 236 Jason Mitchell at safety.
Saint Thomas Aquinas won its fifth straight Florida state title last season and is consistently a top-10 team. The Raiders bring back No. 212 national prospect Chance Robinson at wide receiver (a Miami commit), No. 284 James Madison II at receiver (a Missouri commit), and No. 247 junior Julian Marks at defensive tackle.
This game will feature 30 players rated as a three-star recruit or higher.
