The USC Trojans crossed the 100-point mark for the first time in six seasons. They defeated Eastern Washington with ease on Wednesday night at the Galen Center.
While rumors swirl around the topic of the new USC defensive coordinator, the basketball team took care of business.
Once again, Isaiah Collier and Boogie Ellis did what they were supposed to. However, the play of the big men for USC was a massive step in the right direction.
Vincent Iwuchukwu, Kijani Wright, and Joshua Morgan broke out and combined for 32 points with 16 rebounds. None of the three had been scoring in double figures with any consistency this season. Against EWU, they began to find a comfort zone on offense, exactly what this team needs.
Iwuchukwu played his second-most minutes of the season and scored a season-high in points with 13. Kijani Wright scored a career-high with 12 points.
USC also outrebounded Eastern Washington 36-28 and scored 42 points in the paint.
All in all, after the mediocre offensive showing of the Trojans’ big men over the past few weeks, this game was a refreshing night for USC. It is certainly what the Trojans wanted to see with a massive game coming on Saturday against Gonzaga in Las Vegas.
