USC basketball makes five-star power forward Koa Peat a priority

This basketball recruit has a brother who plays in the NFL and a father who did play in the NFL.

Koa Peat, a five-star prospect in the Class of 2025, announced his most recent offer on social media. The USC Trojans join 30 schools that have extended a scholarship to the 6-foot-8 forward from Arizona.

Alabama, Arizona, Duke, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Michigan State, North Carolina and UCLA are some of the programs to offer the Perry High School standout.

Koa Peat has risen to the No. 3 player in the country, according to the 247Sports composite rankings, following the reclassification of Cooper Flagg into the 2024 class on the 247Sports composite.

Peat’s older brother, Andrus, currently plays on the offensive line for the New Orleans Saints. His other older brothers were and are collegiate athletes, with Todd Jr. playing at Nebraska, Cassius playing at Michigan State, and Keona being on Arizona State’s football roster. His father, Todd Peat, played six years in the NFL for the Arizona Cardinals and Los Angeles Raiders.

Peat led USA’s U16 team in scoring with 17.2 points per game and was second in rebounding at 8.3, playing alongside other five-star talents such as the Boozer twins (Cameron and Cayden) and winning gold for Team USA.

Here’s part of On3’s take on Peat:

“Koa Peat has a naturally strong frame, with long arms and broad shoulders. On the ball, Peat plays with a confidence in both the half and full court. He is a good rebounder and able to push the break in transition. With his lengthy frame, there is upside on defense, especially guarding off the ball… The form on the jump shot, the release specifically, looks clean and consistent, leading to the thought he could grow into being a shooting threat.”
