Before setting their sights on the Philippines for the FIBA World Cup, Team USA received its first true test on Sunday morning against Germany in a thrilling showcase game.
Steve Kerr’s squad trailed by as many as 16 points in the second half to Germany. However, Anthony Edwards fueled a comeback effort with Team USA’s four-game winning streak on the line.
Edwards took over down the stretch to will the Americans back into the contest. He scored a game-high 34 points on 11-of-21 shooting from the field to go along with four made 3s. Edwards tacked on six boards, two assists and two blocks in 34 minutes during Team USA’s 99-91 comeback win over the Germans.
Austin Reaves and Tyrese Haliburton each added 16 points off the bench as Team USA moved to 5-0 in exhibition showcases games before the FIBA World Cup kicks off next week.

Kerr and Team USA will now turn their attention to Group C in the Philippines as games get officially underway in the FIBA World Cup on Friday. USA will open their FIBA World Cup campaign on Saturday against New Zealand in Manila.
