[autotag]Merab Dvalishvili[/autotag] has done all the work to climb the bantamweight rankings, but will have a tough time getting any further without a change in circumstance.
After extending his winning streak to nine fights with a unanimous decision over Petr Yan at UFC Fight Night 221, Dvalishvili is stuck at the No. 2 spot at 135 pounds in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMA Junkie rankings. The only man in front of him? It’s the one person who won’t fight in current UFC champ Aljamain Sterling.
Meanwhile, with a number of other notables competing at Bellator 292 and UFC Fight Night 221 this past weekend, there were slight changes across multiple weight classes including light heavyweight and lightweight.
