Everyone knew that college football would be really special this year with conference realignment and the 12-team Playoff. Through four weeks, we have seen a few upsets, like Notre Dame losing at home to Northern Illinois, but other than that, nothing too crazy. However, with conference play starting this weekend things are going to start heating up.
For starters, the Georgia Bulldogs travel to Tuscaloosa this weekend to take the Alabama Crimson Tide in one of the biggest SEC games of the year. Not only will the game have massive ramifications on the Playoff picture, but also the Heisman Trophy race with QB’s Carson Beck and Jalen Milroe squaring off. We will know a lot more about Alabama after this weekend because we’ve seen two totally different teams in their wins against USF and Wisconsin.
USA TODAY Sports re-ranked all FBS programs from 1-134 through four weeks and Alabama ranked No. 5 on the list. The Tide were No. 4 a week ago, but with an impressive win on the road against Oklahoma, Tennessee leapfrogged Alabama. Auburn is the third lowest SEC member ranking No. 81 on the list ahead of only Mississippi State and Vanderbilt.
