The Baltimore Ravens were the most dominant team in football last season, at least until they reached the postseason. But with their focus renewed on Super Bowl LV, the Ravens are working hard to extend their dominance into the playoffs all the way to the parade after their third championship.
In his latest predictions of the 2020 NFL season, Nate Davis of USA TODAY Sports believes Baltimore will make it all the way to the big game. Davis has the Ravens once again going 14-2 and earning the No. 1 seed in the AFC. This time, however, Baltimore defeats the Indianapolis Colts in the Divisional Round before beating the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game. Unfortunately for the Ravens, that’s where their season ends in disappointment. Though Davis has Baltimore going all the way to Super Bowl LV, it’s the New Orleans Saints that get his vote.
Davis notes it’s the Ravens’ easy schedule and lack of travel that helps them out this year. Baltimore’s opponents had a .438 winning percentage last year and they’ll travel a league-low 6,310 miles this season. Rosters changed this offseason meaning it’s unlikely the Ravens’ schedule remains quite as easy. But some favorable matchups are certainly sprinkled on the calendar and the lack of distance should mean Baltimore travels well this season.
I personally have the Ravens going 12-4 in my first 2020 schedule breakdown, which would still be good enough to at least tie the Chiefs for the top seed in the AFC. If that happens, it’ll come down to their Week 3 contest to determine the top of the playoff order.
