USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll slides Duke up to eighth

The newest USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll had Duke within the top eight after back-to-back wins amid an upset-littered week.

The newest USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll released on Monday, and back-to-back wins over Notre Dame and Boston College moved Duke up two spots to eighth.

The Blue Devils came in with 529 points in the voting, just five above Tennessee, who dropped three spots after a weekend upset loss to Texas A&M.

Duke defeated the Fighting Irish and the Eagles by 33 combined points. Boston College battled back to take a lead late in the first half, but the Blue Devils won both games by at least 15 points this week.

Connecticut and Purdue remained unchanged at first and second, respectively. Houston, Marquette, and North Carolina rounded out the rest of the top five, and Arizona and Kansas finished just above Duke in sixth and seventh.

Virginia finally moved into the top 25 after eight consecutive wins, and the Cavaliers are the third and final ACC team in the rankings as they now sit 19-5 on the year.
