On Monday, USA TODAY updated its preseason power ranking for every FBS team. That list originally contained 130 teams, but it has been cut down to 76 now as a result of four FBS conferences, the Big Ten, Pac-12, Mountain West and Mid-American leagues, canceling the fall season.
Now, the Gators are ranked No. 6, the third-highest ranked team in the SEC behind No. 2 Alabama and No. 3 Georgia. On these rankings, Florida is ahead of LSU, who they trail in the preseason AP Top 25.
Like in the AP Top 25, USA TODAY’s top 25 features seven SEC teams: In addition to the Crimson Tide, Bulldogs and Gators, No. 14 Texas A&M, No. 15 Auburn and No. 18 Tennessee, are also in the top 25.
The ACC also has seven teams, tying the SEC for the most teams represented in the top 25 of these rankings.
The Big 12, the only other power conference currently planning on playing football this fall, has six teams represented in the top 25.
