USA TODAY predicts 11-5 season for the Colts

USA TODAY is bullish on Indy.

With the offseason continuing its path in a virtual setting, it isn’t clear yet when teams will be able to get together. But the predictions are still coming through and the latest from USA TODAY has the Indianapolis Colts on top of the division.

The expectation for the AFC South is that the division will be wide open for three teams: the Colts, Titans and Texans. All three seem to have a fair shot at winning the top spot and grabbing one of the top four playoff seeds in doing so.

Nate Davis of USA TODAY ran out his predictions for the 2020 season, and the Colts came out of the regular season with their first division title since 2014.

Indianapolis Colts (11-5): Newcomers Philip Rivers, DeForest Buckner, Michael Pittman and Jonathan Taylor could reap the benefits of a soft opening given Indy will face just one 2019 playoff teams in the first eight weeks. With only one prime-time game currently on the schedule, Rivers and Co. could also fly under the radar for some time.

Davis also has the Colts defeating the Broncos in the wild-card round but losing to the Chiefs in the divisional round of the AFC playoffs.

The Colts are likely going to be in the race for the top spot in the division and should have enough to get a wild-card spot at least—if all goes according to plan.

It will be a tight race, though, as three teams will be competing for the crown in the division. As it stands now, the Colts are among the favorites.
