As we get ready for what will hopefully be a 2020 football season for Notre Dame, USA TODAY has released their Pre-Season All-American team.
No Notre Dame players made the first First Team selection but one Fighting Irish defender made the Second Team in sophomore safety Kyle Hamilton.
Hamilton burst onto the scene in 2019 with a fall camp that was reportedly off the charts and then quickly became an impact player and an important part of Notre Dame’s weekly game plan.
Hamilton’s stat line in 2019 credited him with 41 tackles, six passes defended and four interceptions.
Those are solid numbers but it’s what opponents didn’t do against him that left so many impressed as Hamilton combined to defend and intercept more passes in his direction than allow receptions.
With as much of an overhaul as Notre Dame’s secondary sees in 2020, the best player on the roster will provide a boost for the rest of the unit.
